Mrs. Kathy Collet, Office Administrator:

Greetings!

We are glad that you are considering Hope Lutheran School for your family. We pray that you will find that Hope Lutheran Church and School meets your needs and expectations for quality, Christian education and you join us in the coming school term.

Our school mission is: Hope Lutheran School works to support parents in raising their children to grow in the grace of their baptism by grounding the children in the Lutheran faith and teaching the children knowledge and skills that they may develop their God-given talents and navigate their way in the world.

Our school motto is: Excellence in Christ Centered Education.

Let me share a few facts and statistics about our school.

  • We are a fully accredited school through National Lutheran Schools Association and Missouri Nonpublic Schools Association.
  • Jr. Kindergarten –4th grade are self-contained classes, 5th-8th are departmentalized.
  • We have fairly small classes (12 students per grade). This allows us to give each child good, personal attention while having enough students for quality programs.
  • Over 50% of our teachers have been teaching at Hope Lutheran School for over fifteen years.
  • Over 66% of our teachers have Masters’ degrees in education.
  • Over 75% of our teachers are trained through Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod universities.
  • We come together for Morning Prayer each Wednesday morning at 8:15 at Hope Church. Please join us when you are able.
  • The Kantorei, the children’s choir, is available to students in grades 3-8. They rehearse Wednesdays after school and sing at the 10:30 Divine Service on the first Sunday of each month as well as at other special occasions.
  • A band program is available for students in grades 5-8 (for additional cost). Classes are scheduled during the school day on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • We offer full-day kindergarten.
  • Students in grades 1-4 and 5-8 participate in yearly Spelling Bees.
  • We offer differentiated instruction in math for grades 5-8. Students are placed in the class that is most appropriate for them. This allows us to offer Algebra, which is an honors class.
  • We participate in the federal Title 1 program to provide remediation in math and/or reading.
  • Students in grades 5-8 may participate in the organized Lutheran Schools Athletics program with soccer, cross-country, girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and boys’ and girls’ track available.
  • We have a wonderful hot-lunch program, with our own kitchen facilities, run by our school cook. Lunch costs $2.25 per day.
  • Our latchkey program is available before school from 6:30-7:45 a.m. for a cost of $2.00 per day. After school latchkey is available until 6:00 p.m. and costs are as follows: $2.50 for students who attend until 4:00 p.m.; $5.00 for those that stay on between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.; and $7.50 for those who leave between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.
  • Actively worshipping members of Hope Lutheran Church may receive a subsidized rate of tuition. New members are eligible for this rate for the second semester. Please talk to Pastor Asburry about this.
  • We use FACTS tuition plan, which allows you to budget tuition payments over 10 or 12 months. Mrs. Collet will be able to help you set up your payment plan.

We endeavor to keep you informed of school events and information in several ways. Students will take home a Hope Happenings newsletter each week, some classes also send home a class newsletter, and we post information on our website www.hopelutheranstl.org and through FASTDIRECT at www.fastdir.com/hope-stl/. There is a monthly newsletter that goes to families through the Hope Lutheran Church mailings and our Hope Happenings are included in the Sunday bulletin.  Mrs. Collet, our administrative assistant, can answer most questions if you call the school office at 832-1850.

Our excellent staff and I are ready to help you and your child have a positive year focused on Excellence in Christ Centered Education.

Please come in and visit with any of us, take a tour of our school, and prayerfully consider joining us at Hope Lutheran School.

God’s blessings to you and your family.
